Research theme: the relationship between Spiral Dynamics- the unique values based bio-psyho-social theory of human evolution - and 16 Ways - D. Newcomb's work with Yin/Yang energy dynamics.

In this 6-week cooperation with various Spiral Dynamics specialists in Holland 6 dancers could explore how different contexts and values influence our physical-psychological-social-spiritual experience of a situation. Which contexts are more natural for each individual and where we would feel more stuck and restricted.
Assuming that similar patterns are repeating themselves in different scales (micro and macro level) we explored the connections between outside circumstances (Life Conditions) and inner experiences, thinking patterns (Coping Mechanisms). Our aim was to embody and live the theory, finding the insights and understanding between physical, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of ourselves as humans.

„For six weeks, we looked with five dancers how different sociological structures mirrored themselves in dance -in how people organize themselves in space, how they communicate and collaborate, and also how the body is used and adressed... /...In this process we started to develop ways of structuring dance classes that cultivate not only the personal physical skills of the dancer, but equally cultivate the dancers ability and awareness of different ways of relating and functioning on a social level. So that in the course of a dance class, the dancers are not only more aware and specific in their own body, but has practiced choice making, finding a pattern together, fighting for their own space, following orders, giving directions, being creative and spontaneous together, and deeply seeing and listening to what is going on in the whole space - all of these are essential capacities that are rarely trained in a synergistic, integrated way." (evaluation by Dylan Newcomb)
